Microchip provides IEEE compliant characteristics for the LAN9668 series TSN switching devices in the industry's first switching solution, allowing lower delay data flow and better clock accuracy.Supplementary LAN9668x is its newly released LAN8814 four-port Gigabit Ethernet PHY transceiver.

Its LAN9688-I /9MX and LAN9688-9MX devices are eight-port switches for industrial and commercial applications, respectively, equipped with an Arm Cortex-A7 CPU that supports TSN IEEE-standard communications for industrial Settings. They include IEEE 1588V2 and IEEE 802.1AS-2020 for precise timing, IEEE 802.1QCI for stream-by-stream filtering and policing, IEEE 802.1QV for traffic shaping and IEEE 802.1CB for seamless redundancy, And IEC-62439-2(Media Redundancy Protocol) and ODWA-DLR and IEC-61188-6-10 for media redundancy.

The LAN9668 and LAN8814 expandable TSN chipsets are supported by their software framework and provide minimum latency and end-to-end communication traffic transmission. Its Ethernet Switch API (MESA) and PHY API (MEPA) give designers the freedom and flexibility to create comprehensive, user-friendly libraries of functions independent of the operating system.

The LAN8814 is a next-generation four-port GIGABit Ethernet PHY that fully supports the latest TSN requirements, including IEEE 1588 V2 and frame preempt. Designers using LAN9668 and LAN8814 technologies can save development time and cost by using TSN chipsets for timing, stream reservation, protection and management.

"By implementing a converged network architecture, the technology allows developers to extend their products to new markets and provide better performance over existing networks," said Charles Forni, vice president, USB and Networking business Unit, Microchip. "While previous devices and devices required their own communication systems, TSN simplifies traffic and improves interoperability by connecting data streams."

In addition to the LAN9668 family and LAN8814 Ethernet PHY, the company also offers its related IStaX/SMBStaX and WebStaX network operating systems. This completes a fast road to market for hardware and software. These include replicable reference designs provided by board designs or kit components, including TSN switches, Ethernet physics, clock devices and oscillators. This integrated solution complies with all networking standards, simplifying the initial design for developers.
