Renesas' highest performance RZ/T2M motor control MPU for applications such as AC servo drives and industrial robots. By providing all necessary peripheral functions for motor control, the device allows customers to reduce the number of external components, thereby reducing BOM cost and product size. And the MPU combines fast, high-precision real-time motor control functions and the latest industrial Ethernet on a single chip, while supporting functional safety operations.

Toshihide Tsuboi, vice president of Renesas's industrial automation division said:'There is a growing demand for factory automation and the deployment of industrial robots to improve productivity,'  "The RZ/T2M is capable of controlling servo motors to drive the robot at extremely high speed and precision. I expect it will contribute to the development and widespread adoption of sophisticated industrial robots that can safely work alongside humans."

This microprocessor connects peripheral functions for motor control to a dedicated bus directly linked to the CPU, allowing the CPU to access these functions with low latency. It is composed of two Arm Cortex-R52 cores with a maximum operating frequency of 800MHz. Additionally, the large memory capacity (576KB) is tightly coupled to the CPU, reducing execution time fluctuations that can occur when using caches and providing deterministic, responsive processing. These advantages enable the device to provide fast and high-precision control for applications requiring high performance, such as AC servos, inverters, and industrial robots.

In addition, for major industrial networking protocols such as EtherCAT, PROFINET RT and EtherNet/IP, the company has added support for the PROFINET IRT protocol to RZ/T2M. The new microprocessor also integrates an Ethernet switch that supports the next generation TSN standard, enabling multiple devices to operate in precise synchronization.

Said Anders Holmberg, CTO of IAR Systems:“Functional safety remains an important requirement for many of our customers,”  “Companies that choose the Renesas RZ/T2M can be confident that IAR Systems will provide them with certified development tools and expertise on a global scale. Technical support, greatly reducing design time and project cost. "
