SCHURTER introduces a new CHS series of capacitive hidden switches designed for use behind non-conductive surfaces. To give interface designers greater flexibility in custom panel designs, the new series develops potential applications for HID.

Designed to act as a single key or array behind a non-conductive surface, the device is therefore an independent capacitive switch.

Standard switches can be mounted behind a glass surface not more than 2mm thick. Simply remove the protective cover and glue on the switch. The switch is programmed not to be triggered by mistake when it comes into contact with a spray or flowing liquid or when it is lightly wiped. Activation is performed by precise touch of the switch surface. The sensitivity of the device can be customized to the specific application requirements, which also applies to the thickness of the material that binds the switch. This shows that the organic glass, plastic, porcelain, ceramic, marble, granite and wood, and other non conductive layer can be used as surface coating, thus for the architectural design, vending machines, professional/gourmet kitchen and a first-class batch equipment, ticketing and other self-service kiosks, and this kind of panel growth trends in industrial application. What's more, cleanable surfaces are especially important in today's hygiene applications. Hidden switches have no mounting holes or switch openings to allow fluid, dirt or microorganisms to enter.

The CHS1 comes in three variants, the CHS2 has PCB circuitry only, the CHS2 has housing and RGB backlighting, and the CHS3 has housing and RGB backlighting. All three are simply mounted to the back surface of the 3M adhesive. Dimensions: 30mm x 30mm, minimum installation depth. Integrated connectors, flexible wires, or individual connector options can be defined in the part configuration. With no moving parts that wear out over time, the technology has a rated life of 100 million actions. Operating temperature range is -40℃ to +85℃. Versions with latch actions are available upon request.
