   Euroquarz 18EQHM32 series oscillators can reduce overall EMI problems in electronic devices by subtly modifying the system clock oscillator center frequency and distributing any EMI problems over a wider bandwidth. It's a new line now offered by Selig. It is intended as an alternative to standard clock oscillators and for PCBS that may fail compliance tests because they exceed EMI thresholds. Switching the master clock module to the 18EQHM32 oscillator immediately reduces system EMI by 12dB(typically) and avoids the cost of redesigning an existing PCB.

   Emi threshold reduction is achieved using spread spectrum technology, whereby the transmitted energy is subtly modulated over a wider bandwidth. Central frequency modulation of several kilohertz can be performed below, in the center, or above the nominal frequency.

   Included in the standard 3.2mm x 2.5mm x 1mm surface mount package, the oscillator is a form/mount/function alternative to the standard 1.8V oscillator, allowing engineers to make immediate improvements in EMI performance. Other voltage versions are also available. And compared to many standard oscillators, these oscillators provide excellent jitter performance, with a period jitter of ±100ps.

   Oscillator specifications include a frequency range from 12.5mhz to 42MHz, choice of extension type, center frequency modulation up to 2%, and eventual EMI improvement up to -18dB, depending on the extension type. Frequency stability is as low as ±25ppm over the commercial (0C to 70C) and industrial (-40C to +85C) temperature ranges.

   The family of oscillators complies with RoHS standards and are suitable for a wide range of non-time critical applications, including PDAs, multifunction printers, digital copiers, networking, LAN/WAN storage, computer storage systems (CD-ROM, VCD, DVD, HDD), scanners, projectors, modems, embedded systems, medical devices, Automotive electronics, GPS car navigation system, LCD and TV, digital camera.
